Have an Affordable Mexico VacationHOTELS IN MELAQUE AND BARRA DE NAVIDAD These villages provide a very affordable Mexico vacation. The two villages are so close, it is easy to go back and forth. There many more rooms and bungalows to rent in Melaque..so many that I have just listed a select number. As long as you don't arrive during the big Mexican holidays - the Christmas holiday period and the Easter week holiday - you can just arrive and expect to find accommodation. You may want to look around the next morning and see what else is available. If you plan to stay for several weeks, you have bargaining power. HOTELS IN MELAQUE You definitely can have an affordable Mexico vacation here. When you see the term “bungalow” that does not mean a little stand-alone building. It means a hotel unit (room) that has some cooking facilities. Generally very basic. Some hotels have common cooking areas which serve as a meeting/social place. (Hey, it’s margarita time!) When looking at the rates in pesos, a quick conversion is divide the price by 10 to give approximate US$ prices. Most of the hotels I have picked are located on the beachfront and in/near the center of town. The Hotel Legazpi and Hotel Bahia are a little further out. I enjoyed staying at both but we did have a vehicle.

Almost on the beach – you walk across a lane through a sitting area with benches and out onto the beach. Go to the left or right. Either side there are restaurants with tables and umbrellas. 16 rooms, some with kitchenettes, some with small refrigerator, some balconies have ocean view. Three stories. About 10 blocks to town center. - 21 rooms with cable TV, small closet, bath with shower and most have 2 double beds. Try to get room on the second floor at the west end where there are covered sitting areas and hammocks.

PLAYA TRAILER PARK This is a full service trailer park right in the center of town on the beachfront. Some people come for several months and book months in advance. INFORMAL TRAILER/CAMP GROUND This is located at the far west end of the beach in Melaque. There are no services but someone does come around and collect a nominal fee. Several large 5th wheelers come for months. On the weekend there are tenters arriving from Guadalajara and Manzanillo. Certainly a cheap Mexico vacation spot.
